How to Accessorize Without Looking like an Ass

Accessorizing is hard.
We've all been there. What to wear? How to wear it? What is TOO much?
It's really all a thin line.
So, typically there are a few places that people normally "accessorize". These include:
1. Ears
2. Wrists
3. Rings
4. Necklaces

My motto is: Pick two and run with it. If you have too many accessories you end up looking like Ke$ha before her hiatus... Not the best look.
ANYWAY -

A list of the best ways to pick your accessories are as follows:
1. Pick two places you want to accessorize
2. Layering is okay - as long as it is only in one area (i.e. if you choose to layer your necklaces - refrain from layering your bracelets, too).
3. Try to stick with one themed color, such as gold or silver.
4. Think: Less is more, unless it's layered.
5. Try to mix it up. (Putting leather with gold always looks REALLY cute!)
6. Speaking of leather... Don't forget the new, trendy boho chic leather wrap bracelets!
7. And finally... don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone!
Layering -

Layering is always a tricky subject
because it can go from this:

to this.....

It can seem intimidating but it's truly very easy once you get the hang of it.
The best way to look for inspiration is to browse through Pinterest or even "look books" on your favorite clothing websites. These will be easy places to gather inspiration for the look you are trying to go for.
It's always best to make sure your pieces match, too. You don't want to too "piece-y" or not put together.
Statement Pieces -
This is a pretty easy rule of thumb to follow. If you have a big, bright purse or a pair of red high heeled shoes you want to show off...
DON'T ACCESSORIZE!
Let all of the attention remain on that pair of shoes or purse. This is important to follow because if you do decide to showcase a statement piece, you don't want to clutter or detract because of your jewelry accessories!
